Item Description

Phenolphthalein Indicator Solution

1% Phenolphthalein by weight in 200 Proof Denatured Ethanol

Essential for Biodiesel & Soap Titrations

Phenolphthalein is an indicator used in titration of WVO. Add a couple of drops to your titration test. The solution will begin to turn a light pink as you add the lye solution. The goal is to find a ph of about 8.5, which is when the mixing solution stays light pink for about 30 seconds.

Phenolphthalein can be used for many other types of titrations such as soap titrations for soap making and biodiesel soap tests. It will work as an indicator for any application where the pH range is desired.

pH range: 8.0-9.8 (light pink to dark magenta)

Phenolphthalein will turn a very dark magenta / purple color if it is in the presence of a very high alkaline solution. Over time it will return to clear on its own.

The expiration date of phenolphthalein is indefinite if it is stored properly in a cool and dry place.
